I drew a pattern on paper and then traced the bag for the prototype. I had never done a no-sew bag and making my own pattern took some trial and error figuring out the holes for lacing.
Next step: designing
I came up with some ideas drawing things I ike about Gypsy Gladiator with the same font I used to cut out the decals for my her name.
I decided to add a picture under the flap closure using my logo and a silhouette of Gypsy Gladfiator.
I used the wave/duck on the back of the prototype
The strap is designed to weave through the sides and bottom of the purse to hold it together without sewing.
So far, so good. It's actually working quite well!
I added the buckle for the strap and the snaps.. note to self- put those snaps on before building-Yikes!
I really like how this is going. Now I just have to decide how I want to add color, if I want to antique the leather to a darker brown. I really love the light color but I know me- I will get it dirty too easy.
I love the buckle!
I should have crossed the side flaps in the opposite order so the open edge faced the back. I won't make that mistake again, I just have to live with it on my prototype.
I don't know where these colors came from but I like it and it. Everything I own s turquoise...so I guess I need more pink to wear with this one.
Final touches....
I struggled with the paint a bit but added some bling to the hibiscus and it made me happy. Time to get busy on another one... all said-less than 48 hours from an idea to reality.
here is the finished prototype.
